Georgia Christakis Eldridge, MD, MPH, FAAP
Physician. Writer. Mom. Global health advocate.
I’m a board-certified pediatrician, public health specialist, and mom living in South Florida. My work sits at the intersection of child health, climate change, and community well-being. Whether I'm caring for newborns in the hospital, consulting on public health projects, or writing about sustainable parenting, my mission is simple: help families raise healthy kids in a healthier world.
My path to medicine was inspired by a love of science, a deep sense of justice, and a belief that every child deserves a strong, healthy start in life. I earned my MD from Florida State University College of Medicine, followed by residency and a chief resident year in Pediatrics at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in New York. I later completed a fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine through the Boston Children’s Hospital Community Network, where I cared for children from rural South Dakota to Liberia, West Africa.
But medicine wasn’t the end of the story — it was the beginning of a broader calling. My curiosity and passion for systems-level change led me to earn a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where I focused on child health, climate and global health, and tropical medicine.
Today, I split my time between clinical work, teaching, writing, and consulting—and, of course, parenting. I also regularly share on Substack, social media, and professional publications, bringing complex health topics into everyday language parents and caregivers can understand and trust.
A little bit about me:
I’m a proud mom to two young children, and like most parents, I’ve learned just as much from the playground and kitchen table as I have in medical training. I’m passionate about low-waste living, nature play, and simple ways families can reduce their environmental footprint without sacrificing joy or practicality.
My Greek-American heritage, love for storytelling, and experience as a Fulbright Scholar in Crete all shape how I see health, not just as the absence of disease, but as something deeply connected to culture, community, and the planet we share.
What I believe:
Every child deserves to grow up in a safe, stable, and sustainable environment.
Parents deserve trustworthy, compassionate guidance, not fear or shame.
Science is powerful, but so is listening.
Small, consistent actions can lead to big change, especially regarding climate and public health.
We all have a role to play in shaping a healthier, fairer future.
